The Maryland Department of Human Resources contracted Optimal Solutions Group, LLC (Optimal) to evaluate the effectiveness of the Winning Fathers Demonstration Project (WFDP). The goal of the WFDP is to serve 100 participants that include fathers who are incarcerated or ex-offenders within Prince George’s, Montgomery, and Talbot Counties, Maryland. The intent of the program is to enable participating couples to develop healthy marital relationships in their homes and communities, develop the participating couples’ abilities to resolve conflict, advance the overall well-being of the children in the household, and improve the families’ economic stability. Optimal developed pre- and post-survey instruments used to capture changes in participants’ attitudes towards relationships and parenting after completing the Winning Fathers project. Optimal provides continuous technical assistance for the Fatherhood Management Information System used at the three program sites.
