Baltimore, MD -- As part of its work on the Supporting Healthy Marriages study, Optimal Solutions Group examines the strengths and vulnerabilities of low-income married couples. The authors, David Pate (University of Wisconsin), Waldo Johnson (University of Chicago), and Dr. Mark Turner looked at the strengths of a marital relationship and the policies that may challenge the potential success of marriage, with a special focus on the challenges faced by low-income men. The policies discussed in this article concern families who are recipients of welfare benefits.
