Optimal Solutions Group, LLC (Optimal) has been contracted by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to monitor and evaluate Medication Therapy Management Programs (MTMP) offered by Part D Sponsors in an effort to identify and understand attributes of MTMPs that may be effective for the Medicare Program, beneficiaries, and providers. Prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans that offer prescription drug coverage are required to have an MTMP for beneficiaries who meet high-risk criteria. 
 
Optimal will assist CMS in identifying those MTMPs that demonstrate the most positive impact on medication use of Medicare beneficiaries or help in identifying standardized outcomes that could be measured by all Part D Sponsors. The MTMP monitoring support project requires Optimal to develop a research design, collect data materials already collected by sponsors for monitoring, monitor   sponsors to determine if they are evaluating their programs in compliance with the outcome measures stated in their CMS-approved MTMP application, conduct data analysis for interpretation, and produce reports that synthesize relevant findings.
