Medicare FWA Guidelines Studied
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - January 2009
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has contracted Optimal Solutions Group, LLC (Optimal) to recommend and implement changes to the Program Integrity Manual (PIM). The Program Integrity Manual (PIM) provides Medicare contractors specific guidelines to related fraud, waste, and abuse (FWA) detection, including processes, activities, and requirements.
Optimal will interview key stakeholders of the Medicare Integrity Program, track suggestions for changes, and provide recommendations to CMS for the revision of the content and format of the PIM. Optimal will then implement approved changes by drafting new language for the manual and facilitating the CMS change request process.
